New Maserati MC20 Supercar relies on Formula 1 technology
First Maserati supercar in 15 years
It took a long time until the Italian cult brand Maserati finally built a supercar again. The last supercar was built in 2004/2005 and was the Maserati MC12. Almost 15 years after this car, which was limited to 50 pieces, the MC20 is now appearing, which should go into mass production. The new flagship of the cult brand was presented in Modena last night. Even if only information about the gasoline version of the MC20 was known for the time being.
Maserati MC20 available as petrol and electric car
The company has announced that it will produce both a gasoline-powered MC20 and an electric-powered MC20 . More information on the e-supercar will follow soon. In any case, the key data of the MC20 read very well. The supercar is equipped with a 621 PS Nettuno 3.0 liter twin-turbo V6 engine. The maximum torque is 730 Nm and allows the MC20 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just under 2.9 seconds. The top speed is estimated at almost 325 km / h .
Maserati relies on Formula 1 technology from Ferrari for the engine. Together with technology partner Mahle, the cult stallion developed the "Turbulent Jet Ignition" technology, which Maserati calls "Twin Combustion" . The combustion engine can operate in two different settings. Firstly, the normal functioning of an engine, with gasoline being burned in the cylinder. In the special mode, the engine can use gasoline more efficiently. To do this, the engine separates small amounts of gasoline into a chamber and thereby ensures a better distribution of the remaining gasoline. This leads to a higher combustion efficiency as well as an improved thermal efficiency.
